The men’s squad had two near misses at Shrewsbury Regatta when Lee Garratt and Andy Martin lost by just three feet in the final of the Senior 4 Double Sculls to Northampton and Jakob Melchior lost by just a quarter of a length to Halford from Birmingham University in the final of the Senior 3 Single Sculls, However, Melchior returned to his winning ways in the shorter Sprint event when, after a closely fought start, his opponent in the Junior Single Sculls Luiste from Warwick made a fatal steering error to leave Melchior crossing the line well out in front.
