Loughborough Boat Club scullers found themselves racing against each other in two finals at Shrewsbury Regatta. On the Saturday, over the longer 1000m River Severn course, Amy Lane and Keith Hudson beat Marie Guingouain and Simon Hill in the Mixed Senior 3 Double Sculls event. Guingouain managed to turn the tables in Sunday’s 600m sprint event when, this time teamed up with Ollie Kortlang, they beat Lane and Hudson by a nailbiting 3 feet in one of the closest races of the day.

Kortlang also made it a double victory for the weekend with fellow LBC member Chris Logan in the Senior 4 Double Sculls. After winning through against Royal Chester in the semi-final they gained a convincing win over Burton Leander in the final.

As Club President, Kevin Carswell commented, ‘It is always good to get wins at regattas such as Shrewsbury – it attracts a large number of entries so provides a good standard of competition and it also provides a chance for some of our younger members to get in some useful race experience’.
