Loughborough Boat Club

Loughborough Boat Club has again proved the strength of its women’s squad with some excellent performances at Henley Women’s Regatta.

At Henley Women’s Marie Guingouain and Isabel Lindholt put up an impressive performance to make it to the final of the prestigious W Peer Cup for Elite Double Sculls. An easy four length victory over City of Cambridge took them to a quarter final place against Thames. In one of the most exciting races of the day the two crews battled it out – always within half a length of each other for the whole course - but the Loughborough crew showed their determination and pulled ahead to win by just half a length. A comfortable three length victory over home club Henley followed in the semi-final but the GB selected crew rowing for Rob Roy proved to be too tough a challenge in the final.

Sarah Mee, winner last year in the Under 23 Lightweight Single Sculls, was racing this year in the Elite Lightweight category. Despite the move up, Mee had convincing wins against scullers from Hollingworth Lake and Queen’s Belfast but then came up against eventual winner Ralston of ULWBC in the semi-final.
