Emily Clarke struck a double victory for Loughborough Boat Club at Nottingham City Regatta last weekend at Holme Pierrepont when she won not just the Senior 1 Single Sculls event but also the Elite event. In the Senior 1 race she got off to a storming start, leaving her competition behind in the first 50 metres. After 500m she was 5 secs ahead and had set a consistent rhythm to keep herself comfortably out in front, crossing the finishing line of the 2000m course 6 secs ahead of nearest rival Nottingham Boat Club. In the Elite event, against opposition which included two England Commonwealth Regatta scullers, Clarke was even more impressive, again getting an excellent start and crossing the line over 13 secs in front of Notts County and 28 secs ahead of Upper Thames.
