Loughborough Boat Club
As the regatta season reached its end, Loughborough Boat Club notched up some more wins in what has been a very successful season. At Abingdon, Emily Clarke teamed up with Nick Rowett from Tideway Scullers to beat fellow Loughborough team mates Sarah Mee and Marcus Joy in the final of the Mixed Senior 2 Double Sculls by three quarters of a length. Clarke and Rowett won the same event at nearby Oxford when Mee also won in the Women’s Senior 2 Single Sculls. Oxford proved successful too for Katy Williams who gained her first rowing win. Katy was joined in the Women’s Senior 3 Coxed Four by Emily Clarke, Shelley Wilkins (of Oxford University Lightweights) and Sarah Mee, with cox Marcus Joy.
A further two wins came the Club’s way at York. In one of the closest races of the day Jerome Mason and Chris Logan pulled back on their Newark opposition in the Men’s Veteran B Coxless Pairs to cross the line just two feet ahead. Marie Guingouain and Keith Hudson had their first race together in the Mixed Senior 2 Double Sculls and came away with a one length victory in the final over home club York City.
