Loughborough Boat Club

Loughborough Boat Club gained seven wins in the ¡Head of the Soar¢ which takes place each year from Kegworth to the clubhouse at County Bridge , Hathern. Boats go off in pursuit style and times are recorded for each competitor.

Fastest crew of the day was the Loughborough B Men¢s Senior 3 Quad taking 12mins 50secs to complete the 3km course against the strong stream. Andy Lyon, at stroke, set the pace for Chris McAulay, Lee Garratt and Andy Millie steering at bow. This was the first race for the crew who have been sculling together for just four weeks.

Two of the Club¢s juniors got their first sculling win in the Junior 15 Double Sculls. Jonathan Day and Edward Fisher put in a confident performance to achieve a comfortable win over the next placed Leicester crew in a time of 18mins 5secs. Jonathan¢s previous coxing experience came in useful, helping him steer a good course from the bow seat and Edward¢s solid technique at stroke kept the boat moving at a fast pace.

Another junior to get a win was Matt Day in the Junior Single Sculls who was also the second fastest sculler of the day in a time of 15mins 18secs. Rosey Dixon and Isobel Jones won the Women¢s Junior Double Sculls in 16mins 20secs, and Rosey took another win in the Women¢s Novice Single Sculls in 17mins 54secs. In the men¢s events, Rob Williams won the Senior 3 Single Sculls in 15mins 48secs and Marcus Joy the Veteran B/C single Sculls in 15mins 27secs.
