Loughborough Boat Club
Loughborough Boat club sculler Nick Logan held on to the title he won
last year when he took the award for the fastest sculler at the Club’s own
‘Head of the Soar’ race.
Logan
completed the course in 13mins 37secs to take the Edmondson Trophy. The
race took place pursuit style starting at Kegworth and finishing 3km upstream
near the clubhouse at County Bridge, Hathern with times being recorded for each
boat.

notched
up the highest number of wins of the day to gain the Victor Ludorum trophy,
donated by John Taylor Bell Foundry, for the most successful visiting club of
the day.
The home club added to
Logan
’s win with a series of successes in the single sculls events. Tom Hetherigton
scored his first win for the club in the Senior 3 Single Sculls with a time of
14mins 34 secs. Marie Guingouain’s time of 15mins 23secs was the fastest time
in the Women’s Senior 2 Single Sculls and 15 year old Jo Sparrow won the
Women’s J16 Single Sculls in 17mins 49secs. One of the newest of the Club’s
junior members, Matthew Day, made his racing debut turning in a very creditable
time of 18mins 22secs.
