Loughborough Boat Club

Loughborough Boat Club has again proved the strength of its women’s squad with some excellent performances at Henley Royal Regatta.

Guingouain and Mee then returned to Henley with Lucinda Bowden and Elaine Johnstone to attempt to qualify for the world famous Henley Royal Regatta in the Princess Grace Challenge Cup for Women’s Quad Sculls. The regatta, traditionally a male event, has added several women’s events in recent years but places are limited and highly competitive. The crew put in a superb performance to win through the qualifiers to gain a place in the main regatta but lost out to University of London in the fastest of the quarter final races.

“These two events are the most prestigious in the rowing calendar and produce the toughest competition there is for club athletes, so to get this level of success is terrific for a small club like Loughborough”, said Women’s Coach George Jones.
