Loughborough Boat Club

Keith Hudson, Captain of Loughborough Boat Club handed out the Club’s awards at its recent annual dinner – and the Achievement Award went to his own double sculls partner Ollie Kortlang who had clocked up most wins of the season. Commitment to land-based training is an important aspect of being successful on the water and this award went to last year’s most promising rower award winner Lee Garratt. Jakob Melchoir, a pupil at Burleigh Community College , was picked out as the junior member with the best potential and Dave Marshall took the title of the most promising rower – he has already been spotted as a potential international level competitor and selected for the World Class Start programme.

Speaking at the dinner, the Amateur Rowing Association’s Deputy Chairman and World Championships gold medallist Annamarie Phelps congratulated the Club on its 125th anniversary and presented the President, Kevin Carswell with a special certificate signed by Sir Steve Redgrave.
